Hutong, Beijing
The Hutongs (old lanes) in Beijing have a very important position in the rich history and culture of this capital city. While the city is continuously modernizing, the Hutong still sticks to tradition. Biking slowly through the winding lanes, you will see the old houses and courtyards (some look ordinary from the outside, but used to be the residence of famous personages in the past), big old trees, vendors, character shops, restaurants and so on. Ancient City Wall, Xi'an
Built in the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644 AD), the Ancient City Wall in Xi'an City is considered a landmark dividing the city into inner and outer parts. Biking on this magnificent wall gives you an enjoyable experience and great view of the city on either side. The wall stretches 12 km (7.5 miles) and its four main gates are still used as the only way in and out of the city, with watch towers, moats, drawbridges, battlements, etc. found around the wall. ◇ Is biking a safe activity in China?
Yes, it is safe. China has the largest number of bicycles and perhaps the largest number of cyclers in the world. Lots of people use it as a daily means of transportation, although more and more people are riding electricity-powered bikes in recent years. In our designed tours, we pick the least congested streets and take you through scenic areas. In addition, our tour guide will always be there to help you along the way. However, we still recommend that you take out travel insurance.
◇ Do I need to reserve a tour in advance? How do I make a reservation?

◇ Where and how can I rent a bicycle?
We will arrange for you a bicycle in good condition. But if you want to rent one and go on your own, you can find at some popular scenic spots. The renting fees are either charged by hour or by day, and you need to leave a cash deposit and return the bike back to where you rented it.

Biking Tips
◇ Please keep your valuables safe from thieves or being dropped, and do not simply leave your bag in the basket. It is advisable to tangle the belts around the handlebar, and take your bag with you whenever you leave the bicycle unattended.
◇ Please watch out and keep away from busy traffic, and be ready to get off if there is too much crowding.
◇ Obey traffic rules. When biking in the city, wait for the green light when you want to cross the street. Do check if both sides are clear even when the green light is on.
◇ Ride carefully. Wear a helmet, and ride near the right hand edge of the road.
◇ Do not swerve when looking over your shoulder. Use hand signals when making a turn.

Pack as light as possible, because most of the things you’ll need can be purchased along the way, as long as you are not biking to remote areas. Please keep in mind the conditions of the journey and pack the bare essentials. It is suggested that you prepare a small bag for items that require frequent access.
